Summer Begins

As I do not have access to my laptop at the moment right now I am just going to describe what has been going on lately, then I will update with pictures later.

On Thursday, May 12th I had my last exam and finished my semester abroad. Although I wanted to celebrate summer the day was sad as I said goodbye to many of my friends and then got a migraine. Bummer. The next morning I finished packing up my room which was kind of nostalgic and sad as well. It had gone by so fast and yet I felt ready to leave. Luckily the next day I cheered up when my mom's friend's daughter (from Malaysia) picked me up and drove me to KL. When I arrived I saw my mom smirking out from the doorway and felt so much better. Although we had spent four months apart re-connecting with my parents didn't feel that weird. It had gone by fast and nothing had changed. I feel a bit more worldly and am eager to show them how I understand and live in Asia. For once I am the expert and it is kind of nice to tell them stories as they experience Asia (especially my dad) for the first time or for my mom for a third time.

Over the past day or so in KL we have just been drinking and eating up a storm. It is so nice to be pamepered by my parents and spend just that little extra on food. Also as we are staying at my mom's friends house she has bacon and cheese and all the canadian food i have missed so much right at my finger tips.

Tomorrow I  will continue to tag along with the adults to a tea plantation and then to gem island for a beach holiday. All is sooooooooo super swell. The best start to a summer yet!!!

one week left :(

I should be studying.

I should be working on my job applications.

All I can think about is that I only have 7 days left at this incredible school.

I am eating Hello Panda (my favorite chocolate filled cookies) writing this blog post, thinking about amazing my time here has been. I cannot believe I have a week left in this room. It has gone by too fast. How is it even possible that I am in my last week of third year university and that my semester abroad is coming to an end. It must be true, time does fly when you are having the time of your life.

That video is of the wild boar that comes to eat on the grass right outside my dorm room. Living in residence here at NTU has been nothing like Saugeen at UWO. The hall ways are all open and airy. The libraries are packed and I love how students here study at picnic tables together outside. Although it is so hot right now as summer approaches Singapore that I struggle to stay awake sitting anywhere without air-con.

Anyways, back to the books, just wanted to say I will really miss this place. I hope one day I am lucky enough to see Birds of Paradise flowers on my walk to class and little geckos sprint across the walls.

Thailand Round 2

The next post will explain my trip to Thailand in words and pictures. This video made by my talented best friend JJ however, says it all. It was a blast.  Let me just say we really went out with a bang, as it was the last trip the four of us girls will do together this year...although we have all decided that one day we will all go to Hong Kong Rugby 7s again.

Click on the link, it will take you to the video as posted on YouTube

These four girls have made my semester abroad what it was and I could have never asked for better travel partners. We were all from different places in Canada and even all came from different group of friends back at Western and yet we have grown to be an inseparable fourpack. I don't have any words to describe what they mean to me. They have become my sisters.
